FOOTBALL.
Slß,— With reference to a letter which appeared in your issue oi to-day, signed by Mr Vernon H. Reed, I beg to take exception to that part of ib in whioh he accuses the Napier Football Club of "rnnzilDg in" Tntere "at the last moment " as one of their members selected for the Hawke's Bay Rngby Union's representative team. I would like bo Inform Mr Reed thab the football notes which appeared in your issue of Wednesday last were uoi written at tbe instance of the Napier club, and'tbab Tutere has never played for, nor is he at present a member of, our club, aod fuither to assure him that we do nob on nny account claim him as our representative, which, as yonr correspondent states, wnnld be very unfair. In conclusion, Tutere could nob have been selected as the representative of any other than (Valpawa olub, and they are justly entitled to olaim him as such.— l am, &c,
W. A. KIELY, Hon Secretary Napier Football Club. Napier, 13th June, 1895.
