Tuesday, August 30. The House met at 2.30 p.m. III! JOHN mtVCK. Mr C. H. Mills brought up the reporb of the Public Petitions Committee on the petition Of the Hon. John Bryco. The report was to the pfiect thnt as thesnbject matter of the petition had been already dealt with by the House the committeo had no recomrueuduticii to make. Mr IlntcbUou (VVaiiotara) moved tbnt the report be refeired back to tbe committco for the purpose ef nttacbing the evidence thereto, as was decided by thu committee in tilt* first instance. Mr Guinness thought the House had had enough of tho matter, and moved the adjournment of the debate. After fiome discussion Mr Kolleston said ho bad no desire to raise another debato on this matter, lint he supported the proposal to refer the report back to the committee. His opinion was that no words could express tbe bitterness and want of Renerotity shown by the Government over the whole qnoaiion. Mr Ballnnce said that as far as the Government v/eie concerned they were quite willing to take a division on tho main question. The Government did not) care whether the debut? were adjourned or not, but he thought tbe House had had quite enough of the matter. Mr Guinnesss's amendment was lost by 31 to 20. Af'.er an exhaustive debate Mr Hutchlboii'b motion to refer tho report buck to the committee was lost by 33 to 19. The report was then ordered to lie on tho table of tbe House. The House rose at 5.30.
