Melbourne, Friday, The legal profession have given £50 to the employer's fund, and voted £10 per week so lons as the Chief Justice contributes to the strike fund.
The Employers' Union has decided in favor of a conference with the labor bodies, and is consulting the onions in other colonies. It is said that the importers are so determined to end the strike as their only salvation from rain, that they brought pressure to bear on the employers.
Four deliberate attempts were made yesterday to burn down the Palace Hotel. A commercial traveller named Kimber was arrested for being illegally on the premises. Despite a statement by the man that he entered the building where he was found while in an intoxicated state, the magistrate sentenced him to a year's imprisonment. Notice of appeal was given.
