The Council resumed at 7.30. LAND BILK The Land Act Amendment Bill was further considered in committee. The clause relating to the election of Land Boards was struck out. and a new clause abolishing Land B»ards was inserted in it stead, after considerable discussion, in the course of which Mr M'Lean said he would rather see the Education Boards abolished than the Land Boards. On the motion of Mrßonaran addition was made to clause 16, its effect being to protect mining interests generally. A new clause defining the boundaries of Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Otago, and Southland>as agreed to on the motion of Mr Stevens. . The boundaries will be the same as those described by the Land Transfer Act, 1885. . The bill, after some further unini-. portant amendments, was reported, read a third time, and passed. The Council adjourned at 10.45.
