THE WAIPUKURAU SCHOOL.

Sir, — I have carefully read your always reliable report of the business done at last meeting of the Education Board, expecting to see what had been decided upon with regard to the caso of the teacher at Waipukarau, but was disappointed in finding nothing. It has occurred to me that perhaps this is among the things postponed till next Tuesday, and for the honor o£ the Board I sincerly hope it is ; if so, there will be no harm in refreshing their memory. This is a case which should be taken up altogether apart from the private interests o£ the teacher ; it is one in which the great quostions of justice to teachers as a body and honorable observance by the Board of their own rules are involved. It will be in the recollection of the public that the Board some time ago resolved that no teacher should in future be removed without an enquiry. The Board seemed to have forgotten for a time their own resolution, and acted in direct violation of it when the case came up ; but at a subsequent meeting, through the urging of the Teachers' Institute, nearly all the mem"bers had to acknowledge that a grievous wrong Vnr l been perpetrated, and the Eev. Dr^Sby gave notice of motion for an enquiry. It appears now that the rev. gentleman has thought it prudent not to table his motion, unless indeed, as I have already said, this is to come up at next Tuesday's meeting, though this is unlikely judging from the fact that the appointment of another teacher has been Confirmed without, in the natural order, first disposing of the suspended case of the present incumbent. In the hope, however, that something may yet be done, the application of "Jeddard justice" to the Board must not in this instance be made; and it is for the public, and especially the teachers whose position is in jeopardy, to patiently wait another opportunity for the Board to show their intention. — I am, &c, Member of a School Committee.
