Messrs Monteith and Co. report as follows : — As will have been noticed from oiir late reports, there is a. fair demand for young, useful horses of all classes, and particularly medium draughts, broken Or unbroken. To-day we snbmitted 18 head, chiefly medium hacks; the; greater number of which were sold "at fair prices. ' Our quotations are — Young and sound' heavy draughts, £ft) to £45 ; medium do, £25 to £30; do unbroken, £18 to £22; light harness, £15 te £20; useful hacks, £9 to £12; weeds, £4 to £6. Produce — Bran, £4, per ton; potatoes, £3 10s; onions, ljd per lb ; rye grass seed, 2s 9d to 3s; hay, £3 per ton.- . •' Messrs Hondloy and Lyon report a large attendance at their weekly wool and produce sale, held thia day. There wa"s active competition, and last week's prices were well maintained. The catalogue comprised 11 bales 50 pockets and 4 bags w001, '351 sheepskin."/ '21 hides, 4 casks of tallow, 53 sacks rye grass and 100 sacks meadow fescue, 30 sacks damaged, -fleur, 3 packages honey, realising as follows^:— "Wool— "WN, 1 bale crossbred, 7|d; RT, 1 bale merino skirting, 5Jd ; 2 bales merino fleece, 7?d ; 1 bale merino pieces, 5Jd ; 1 bale merino locks, 3d; 1 do, 4d ; 2do pieces, sd ; 1 do, 4f it l ; P, 12 pockets washed, merino, Is 6d; 3 do crossbred, Is 4Jd; 10 pockets washed merino, Is 4d ; 6do pieces, Is ltl ; 3 do locks, «id; ANARU, 7 pockets washed merino, Is6d; 2 do, Issd; 5 do pieces, ls3Jd; 2do locks, 9}d; EN, 3 bags merino, 7d; 1 bag lambs', 4}d; B, part hale scoured crossbred, Is. Sheepskins—Crossbred, good, 6jd to 7d perlb; medinm, 4id, S\d, s|d; short-woolled and pelts, lid, l^d, 2ja, 3d, 3Jd per lb. Hides— Badly saved, 14 at 8s 3d; good light,4 at 10s 6d, 2 at 10s. Tallow— Good, 2Jd, 2£d; cUscplored and inferior, lsd, ljd. Flour — Damaged, 6s to I2s' per sack. Grass seed— Damaged rye grass seed-, Is per- bushel ; meadow fescue, good quality, 10 sacks, 6d per lb. Ht.ney, 1 package, 6Jd per lb ; 1 do. 7d;,1 ,d0,,8d. .Land— 2 sections in the old Hastings township not reaching owner's limits were withdrawn.
