PARLIAMENTARY.
The < first item of English intelligence comprises the debate in full which took place in the House of Commons on the 7th May, on the Irish Church question. The summary of the important phases of the 1 debate reached JN~ew Zealand by the last Panama mail, per s.s. Rakaia. Further particulars* are now obtained, which we place before our readers. Mr. Bright, in reply to Mr. Disraeli's speech, said that he had long deplored the condition o.f Ireland, which he said had been looked upon as a scandal ; ho charged Mr. Disraeli with having withheld in his interview with Her Majesty all that it was his duty to state on a question of such importance. Any], man, he aiErmed, who placed the Sovereign in front of a great struggle like the one now initiated, and said that the Queen held opinions against religious equality, was guilty of high crime and misdemeanour against the country and the State. Mr: Gladstone remarked that he had never heard such language as that used by Mr* Disraeli. used by any Prime Minister before. He taunted Lord John Manners with being ignorant of the intentions of his colleagues to endow the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland. Mr. Disraeli appealed to; the House whether his manner of describing his audiences with the Queen had been either pompous or servile, as stigmatized by Mr. Bright. He would defy tlie latter gentleman, notwithstanding his stale invective, to substantiate his charges. The Reform Bill for Ireland was read a second time and committed.
