Cricket. — The match between the 70th Regiment and the Napier Cricket Club comes off to-morrow, at Greenmeadows. Wickets will be pitched, we understand, at past 10 a.m. The Weather. — In our last we referred to the severe storm of Thursday night. In course of Friday there were also some very heavy squalls, in one of which, the galvanised iron roof of one of Messrs. Stuart and Co's stores \tfas blown off. We have also heard of one or two, "' chimneys having been blown down, and of the shingles having been stripped off a, house in Petane valley. Rain, so much wanted — for which, indeed, the country has been thirsting for weeks — set in yesterday afternoon, a heavy shower, alternating with hail, having fallen between three and four. There is, however, little appear-: . ance of its continuance. A week's rain would. be a blessing to the province. .' ' ." ' New Woor,. — The Van-guard of this sear * son's wool made its appearance yesterday in port. It is from the run of Mr. E. N". Smith, and is consigned to Messrs! Stuart & Co.
