Saxe of Sheep.— Mr. H. Redwood dispdsed of bis surplus Southdown and Leicester sheep by auction on the 1 lth April, at his farm at Hedgesford, Waimea. There were about 400 in number, consisting of ewes, and ewe and wether lambs, partly Southdown and partly Leicester. They were sold in lots of a score each, the competition for which was very brisk. The wether lambs brought 20s, each, the ewe lambs 265. to 285., two and four tooth ewes 345. to 3tfs., and aged ewes 265.&0 295. Mr. Bed wood provided a substantial entertainment for, his visitors, and put the tap' into a hogshead <|i|iis fine home-brewed ale, now two years old, which warmed the hearts of all who partook of it. — Nelson Examiner •, May 11. An Indian squaw, roaming around the garrison at Fort Yuma, discovered twenty dollars worth of postage stamps in sheets in the officer's quarters. A. happy thought Btruck her. Shortly after she, created quite a commotion by appearing on the parade ground stuck all over with the stamps, regardless of dignity and decency.* The officer found that his postage stamps intended for the mail, had been appropriated to the female !
