TVTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to~a - M resolution of the Provincial Council of Hawk«'s Bay, it is intended to apply for an Act of the General Assembly, at its ensuing session, to enable the Superintendent of the Province of Hawke's Bay, with the view of removing a public nuisance, to purchase certain Lands inthe town of -Napier (and which lands are specified in the Schedule to this Notice), either with the consent of the Proprietors of the said lands or otherwise, and to empower the said Superintendent to borrow money upon Debentures to carry out the purposes before mentioned. Notice is further given, that Plans and Index Books, shewing the Lands proposed to be purchased, and the names and additions of the owners thereof will be deposited at the following places : — At the office of the Superintendent of the said Province of Hawke's Bay. Superintendent's Office, Napier, May 17, 186 L mENDERS will be received at this office up to Monday, x 27th May, at noon, from persons desirous of renting the FERRY at the heads of Napier Harbour, from Ist June to 31st December, 1861. It is to be understood by persons tendering that they are to ask the smallest sum for performing tfiis service, in consideration of the Government giving a bonus, the use of the Ferry Boat, and the Ferry fees obtainable. The Ferryman will be required to be in constant attendance from sunrise to sunset throughout the year, and will be authorised to collect tolls according to the undermentioned scale: — To or from Meanee Spit, each person 6d. " " Horses per head ...Is. " . " Sheep " ...3d. Government Officers on duty and Mail-men... Free. Persons tendering must state the bonus they are willing to accept, name two responsible persons as sureties who will be prepared to enter into a joint bond for £100 for the due performance of the Service, and for keeping the Ferry Boat with all its attendant gear in good and serviceable repair.
