The New South Wales Government to-day agreed to provide a guarantee of £IO,OOO for the British. Empire games to bo hold at Sydney in January, 1938, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the State. It is proposed to include in tho programme track and field events, swimming, diving, cycling, boxing, wrestling, bowling ancl sculling. For the time being the question of women’s sports has been shelved. The State Cabinet to-day discussed preliminary details for commemorating the 150th anniversary of tho State and decided to issue an invitation to tho Duke and Duchess of Kent to visit Australia early in 1938.
