Patea Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Patea iWomen’s institute was held at the residence of Mrs L. Adams on AVednesday last. Mrs AA’alton’s resignation as a member of the circle was accepted with regret and it was decided to accept Mrs Walton’s offer to hold) the November meeting in her garden, when the roses were in bloom. The Patea Borough Council wrote stating that the reserve opposite St. Joseph’s Church would be prepared for planting at the earliest opportunity. It was decided to write to the borough council suggesting that the reserve be named Queen Mary Reserve, in honour of Their Majesties’ silver jubilee. It was suggested that karaka trees and shrubs be planted in the reserve on Arbor Day. ’ Airs I. Jones donated! some choice pansies and Canterbury bells for planting in the reserve. Mrs S. Gunn and Mrs G. Macken were appointed to take charge of the garden circle’s stall at the institute social afternoon on July 3. Next month the circle will weed the triangle and rockery. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames C. Carey, N. Ccad, S. Crawford and L. Adams.
