TARANAKI CLUB GAMES NEW PLYMOUTH BEAT HAWERA ANNUAL FRIENDLY MATCH By 11 games to nine with three games finished all square, a team of 26 New Plymouth Golf Club members during the week-end defeated a team from the Hawera club at I'airfield. It was the annual inter-club “friendly” fixture. The weather was perfect and the games very enjoyable. At the conclusion of play Mr S. C. J onks, president of the Hawera club, congratulated the visitors on their success. He said that the result nevertheless was immaterial, the real benefit coming from the friendly relationships that their visits fostered. Mr F. S. Johns responded. After being held by the Stratford Club for the past three years, the Eltham ladies regained the Taplin Cup. defeating the holders by three and a half games to two and a half games. The cup has been held by the following dubs:—Kltham 1926. New Plymouth 1926-27-28, Stratford 1929. Hawera 1930, Patea 1931. Stratford 1932-33-34.
