Matapu Branch
A social afternoon, arranged by the Matapu branch of the AV.D.F.U., was held in the Matapu Hall on Tuesday afternoon, the function, taking the form of a farewell to Mrs AVetton, Duthie Road, who is leaving the district shortly. During the afternoon a flag 50J tournament was held, the winners being Hie Misses Gatenby, M. Guy and Mrs H. Hoskin. Competitions for the best jam tarts were won by Mrs Robertson 1, Miss S. Gatenby 2 and Miss M. Guy 3; best knitted article made from 2oz wool, Mrs Robertson 1, Miss P. Robertson 2 and Mrs Calder 3. Next month’s competitions will be something new from something old and the best coconut buns. At the conclusion of the entertainment the president (Mrs H. Sharp) presented Mrs AVetton with a silvermountect caUe plate from the branch and a bouquet. Mrs Wetton, in reply, thanked them for their gift.
