Complaints still reach usj and with good reason, of the lack of accommodation for passengers at the Hawera railway station. If the traffic were not such as to justify the demand made for further accommodation, the authorities might be excused for disregarding the cqinplaints, but no such excuse can be made. The traffic is much larger than was generally anticipated a few months ago, and more than justified the requests preferred.
A slight accident occurred to the Opunake coach this morning when near Mr Milne’s place, which caused some inconvenience, but, fortunately, no injury to life or limb. While coming along at fair speed the axle of the coach broke and the vehicle was brought to a standstill, but no one was hurt.

Afterwards. Titokowaru said the natives had met there that day to show that peace had been made with the Europeans, who, he hoped, would not take a wrong meaning from their war-dress. He concluded his address by saying he would shower peace upon the people for ever. * * * * *

The society may bo said to he in a fairly satisfactory position and worthy of general support. The members are at present practising “Trial by Jury” on two nights in each week, and when it is produced at the end of the month a musical treat may be anticipated.
