Shawls Fashionable
Ways to Wear Them Have you got a shawl away in a drawer? If so, now is the moment to bring it out, for shawls are coming back to favour. At a recent hat- show many of the models .shown wore worn with shawls—just a square piece of material folded corner-wise, with the point clown the back, is slimming. Those in wool material could aptly be tailed “fisherfolk” shawls, as a fringe gives that note. Shawls can be worn in many different ways. You can knot a shawl scarf : on the shoulder to give a soft line to 1 t.he frock, and strike a definitely ap- j propriate note if worn with the new j “forward movement” hats. To the broad-shouldered woman they are also a slick fashion for the evening, for they give height and take away that wide look from the shoulders. Here, again, they can be arranged in such a diversity of ways, since there is a | real art in putting on a shawl. . Fifteen minutes spent before your looking-glass in arranging a shawl in! different ways will repay the effort-, as i every woman has a. particular individual angle for its arrangement. For some faces it can be arranged quite. severely; others need the folds draped 1 softly around the face fastening with ; a brooch to keep them in place. It is ' the vogue for plaids and tartans that \ has inspired this new note, and if> shawls remain with us they will add an original mode to our costumes and emphasise the trend of fashion toward a past era.
