Eltham Ladies’ Club
At. the annual, meeting of the Eltham La (.lies’ Basketball Club held at tho- residence of ' Mrs T. A .Ryburn, Mrs ,D. Knuckey presided and there ■Was a good attendance of members, including Mrs Ividson, Misses V. Gaincross, Jean .Campbell, A. McKain, M. Tarrant, E. Rankin, E, Rowe, C. M,arehan v J. Glpntworth, D.- Williams and H. Ryburn. The president congratulated the tea.hy 'on- winning the Taranaki- junior shield. Practices during the year had been'.well attended anti matches were played with Alanaia, Ivaponga Convent, Mufapu; Auroa, Mangatoki and Okiiiawa of which 11 games .were won ami one lost. Points totalled : . For 106, and against 66. In the semi-final for the shield Elthem played South Taranaki’High School juniors and won and’ in the final ’ against New Plymouth Convent was again successful. Club- members were thanked for their co-operation, also, Mrs Ryburn for the use- yf-her room, the Press and also Air. Thomas, headmaster at Eltham, for allowing the team to use the school basketball grounds. , The following officers wore’ then elected' for, the. year- Patron, Mr W, J. Tristram; oufesident, Mrs AiarchUnt; : vice-presidents, Mrs R. S. Alien aindi-Mrs .J. A- Ryburn; secretary, Miss: H. Ryburn; committee, blisses. Jeaii Campbell, V. Carncross, E. Rlowe, S'. Williams gnd Mrs Ividson. . New members elected were Misses E. Rankin, M. Tarrant, K. Butler, A. AJcKaiu, C. Alarcjiaiit, E. Rowe and Mrs -Ividson. It<was decided that if. there were sufficient members two teams be entered 1 in. the competitions, one team to play on' Thursday's find one to; play on ■Satmjday. ■ Mi’S Marchant' kindly offered the usoopf'oheio-lttWdiS rfor .practises.
