MILITARY FUNERAL

TRIBUTE TO WELLINGTON MAN. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. A military funeral was yesterday accorded the late Mr «T. A. Shand, formerly sub-editor of the “New Zealand limes,” and afterwards publicity agent for J. C. Williamson, Ltd. Tne pallbearers included Mr J. Spence, secretary of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, and Colonel Mabin and representatives of the South African War Veterans’ Association. A firing party was supplied by the permanent forces training cadre, Trentham camp, and was in charge of Staff Sergeant-Major J. S. King. The Hon. E. A- Ransom represented members of the Cabinet-, Mr P. A. de la Perrelle members of the House of Representatives and Mr A. W. Mulligan ministerial private secretaries. The South African. War Veterans’ Association was officially represented and also many other associations connected both with the South African War and the Great War. Bugler F. O. Chegwin and members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association filed past dropping red poppies on the casket. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. E. K. Frv, the Rev. D. C. Bates and the Rev W. Braniwell Scott. Numerous floral tributes were received.
