APPEAL PLEA REJECTED
OVERSEAS PASSAGES CASE. (By TelegrapU—rresa Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. The Court of Appeal this morning delivered judgment in the case of Rex v. Brownrigg. Application, for leave to appeal to the Court of Appeal from a conviction was refused. Application was made to the Court of Appeal on October 4 by Harold Bradley Brownrigg, salesman, Auckland, for leave to appeal to the Court against a decision of Mr Justice Herdman, in the Supreme Court, Auckland, in refusing, on his conviction of theft by a jury, to reserve to the Court of Appeal two points of law. Brownrigg was found guilty of • the theft of £l7 from Robert George Di'gby Manning, the offence being associated with. Brownrigg’s activities in connection, with Overseas Passages Ltd., a company allegedly promoted for the purpose of providing cheap passages to England.
