HAWEEA CLUB. CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRESS. ■Good progress was made last week with the matches in the championships of the Hawera Men’s Golf Club and the first round is now completed. Several members are unable to play and have had to default. The remaining results of the first round are as follow: — .Senior: McKenzie beat J. N. Anderson by default; iSturrock beat D. C. Rvan '/by default; O’Callaghan beat Pease by default; McDonald beat Ward 3 and 2; Jones beat J. Tarrant at the 20th; Baigent beat Hay-Mae-kenzie 5 and 4.
Intermediate: G. 11. Ryan beat R. Lendrum by default; Blair beat H. .Sagar 4 and 2. Junior: 11. Jones beat W. F. Morrissey 2 up; Potter beat A. G. Walker 6 and '5.
Limit: Fyson beat Hughes by default; G. McLean beat Tunneeliffe by default; Gordon beat G. W. Williams; Dowdle beat Diver by default; Clemoes beat Beauchamp; Hulbert beat Clemoes 2 and 1.
