RE-ARMING BY GERMANY

' Era nee believes that Herr Hitler’s anti-Austrian campaign will not cease without strong international action, which France will see applied if the League of Nations finds a drastic ■ remedy is necessary. Nobody in France doubts that Germany is rearming. Several dependable French newspapers detail Germany’s manufatures of bombing ’planes, heavy artillery and gas, and also draw attention to the approaching completion of the mechanisation of the Reichswehr and the militarisation of police and storm troops. They stato it is significant that manufacturers continue to be kept busy. The Chamber of Deputies recently passed a Bill adjusting recruiting so as to maintain the army at normal strength during the lean years 1935 to 1938, due to the low birth-rate during war time. A Paris message says France is watching closely two monster Nazi demonstrations at Bingen and Niederwald, which are regarded as Herr Hitler’s first public move in a campaign to win back the Saar for Germany
