LONDON, Aug, 26. The “Financial Times” reports that Japanese trade guilds are supporting, a Government proposal to send a mission to South America and elsewhere with a view to driving out British goods if Britain fails to satisfy Japan in the forthcoming conversations. From the latter hopes are lor little. All Japanese trade profits are at present sunk in armaments. Japan is spending enormous sums to bring the navy to full parity with England and America and the expense is threatening the country with bankruptcy. . •, , England and America are considered unlikely to enter agreements in the interests of Japanese trade unless Japan agrees to a. disarmament policy enabling the raising of revenue for balancing the budget, relieving the heavily taxed masses and stemming the present 1 dangerous social and political unrest.

STRONGEST IN HISTORY
TOKIO. Aug. 26
The Emperor of Japan to-day reviewed at the manoeuvres the strongest fleet that has ever saluted a Japanese .ruler. The tonnage was 847,766 tons, compared with 703,295 in 1930. Areoplanes numbered 180, compared with 72, but the fleet can carry more. A striking features was the increased strength of first-class cruisers, longer m range and stronger in striking power, replacing the predominantly light cruiser fieet of 1927. PACIFICISTS' ATTACKED. TOKIO, Aug. 26. Reactionaries violently disrupted l a meeting of the Pacifists Society last night, assaulted’ the speakers, smashed' windows and distributed handbills denouncing naval restrictions and antiwar movements. The ringleaders were arrested.
