GEORGE AND DOUGHTY CUP WIN FOR THURSDAY A.

In the final of the George and Doughty Cup inter-division senior Vilen's competition at Stratford on Saturday the Thursday A representatives defeated Saturday Division by three goals to two. In the first half 'there was nothing between the two teams, but after Saturday secured tlio 'lead the Thursday forwards’ stick work and unison improved appreciably, while the hacks showed themselves adept at defence, with the result that Thursday rattled oil two goals within a few min'utes and thereafter successfully drove back the series of sorties which Saturday launched. Both full-backs played excellent games, and that the scoring was not higher could be ascribed in great measure to tlicir play. Surgenor stood out in the Thursday forwards and scored the three goals. He was well supported by the others, of whom 8. Betts and V. Betts were prominent Page and A. Lines were often in the Saturday picture The winning team consisted of the follow in": McLeod; Noonan, Pitcher; Barker, V. Betts, K. Alboit; Beale. Pennington, Surgenor, S. Betts, Pasjo6. The Rev. J. A. Ryburn and Mr. E. J. Foster were referees.
