Widespread floods, caused bv four days of incessant rain after an abnormally heavy monsoon, have affected an area embracing Bengal, Assam, Orissa, United Provinces and Punjab to the western coast
Rivers are swollen to a record height. Thousands of villages are submerged and the houses wrecked. Rail and telegraphic communication is affected.
