SOUTH TARANAKI HOCKEY
MIDWEEK PLAY ALHAMBRA MAINTAIN LEAL Maintaining their unbeaten record yesterday by a win over Auroa, Alhambra- now lead oriental by one point in the Souxii Taranaki men’s hockey division.
In a fast, even match at Ha-wera Oriental beat Otakeho by two; goals to one. Both sets of backs played a sparkling game, but the forwards were not at their best combination. Pennington opened Oriental’s tally halfway through the first spell, Surgenor equalising with a splendid solo effort just "prior to the change over. The second half was ma.rued by even, vigorous rashes, Duncan making the opening for F. Clarke to score the winning goal. Mr C. J. MeFadyen refereed. Alhambra beat AUroa on the latter’s ground by S goals to 4. For the winners Corbett (4), Dowdle (3), and Shaw scored. Auroa’s goal's being shot by D. Benton (3) and G. Kirk. At Manaia the home team beat Hawera by five goals to nil. Tokaora beat Otakeho juniors at Tokaora by four goals to two. For the winners J. Johnston (2), C. Griffin and A. Ta-p Lin scored, while Otakeho’s goals were secured by G. Putt and R. Duggan. In a junior match at Manaia, Manaia beat Alhambra by five goals to one. A ladies’ game at Oeo resulted in Piha.ma beating Oeo by one goal to nil, M. Conaiglen scoring.
TOKAORA LADIES’ TEAM. 1 Following is the Tokaora ladies’ team to play High 'SclnVol at King Edward Park at 2 p.m. to-morrow: Mcsdames Tippetts and McMahon, Misses Jennings, McDonald, Bennett, Banks, T. Bolland; M. Barr, Jones, M. Bolland, P. Ward.
