“Regulations are not of much good unless they are rigidly enforced, and we are afraid the officers of the Division are inclined to adopt a lenient attitude with tli« persons concerned in many instances when breaches of the regulations are detected,” states the annual report of the South Island Dairy Association. The report refers to the importance of the regulation introduced during the past year, which requires that all cans used for the conveyance of milk or cream shall he properly washed and scalded with boiling water. Owing to a tap in an upstairs room having been inadvertently left turned on, a New Plymouth boot shop was partially flooded on Monday night. Fortunately no damage was done to stock. A' telephone call brought the manager from his bed at a late hour and informed him of the trouble. It did not take long for the manager to reach the shop and, on arrival, he found that the tap had run to such effect that he u;as compelled to use an umbrella to cross the floor. It was almost daylight this morning before the manager had cleaned out the shop to his satifaction.
