PLUNKET SHIELD. OTAGO' WANT 258 TO WIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Feb. 3. The Plunket Shield match, between Otago and Wellington, resigned at Carisbrook in fine, warm weather. The wicket was fast and the outfield good. Wellington’s overnight score was 122 for six (MoGirr not out 15, an,d Ward not out, nil). Ward took strike to Elmes, and the first over was a maiden. Dunning took up the attack at the other end, MdGfirr getting a single to square leg off the first ball. In Dunning’s second over. Ward snicked a low easy catch to Elmes in the slips, but the latter failed to hold it. 111 the next over Elmes retrieved himself and clean-bowled Ward for a “duck.” —126—7—0.

Kaniason joined McGirr and played somewhat luckily. He succumbed to Dunning when eight.—l43—B—B.
