WHAREROA.

• (From Our Own Correspondent.) In the AVhareroa Hall on Tuesday evening a kitchen tea was given to Miss Eileen Smith on the occasion of her approaching marriage. There was a very large attendance, showing the popularity and esteem in which the young couple are held. Dancing and cards were the order of the evening. Everything went with a swing. Mr Harry Stefieri acted as M.C. The music supplied by Miss Butler was excellent, and extras were played by Miss George, Mr H. Steffert, Mr P. Steffert, and Mr Les. Bloor. A song by Miss Butler was much appreciated. The euchre tables under the .superintendence of Mr Carswell were well attended, extra tables having to he improvised. The first prize for ladies was won by Mrs A. Appleyard. and the men’s prize was won by Mr C. Bloor.

After supper the presents were unpacked. and Mr B. Hicks as chairman. in a very effective and humorous speech, presented the gifts to the young c-ouple and wished them a. long life in which to enjoy their use. Mr A. E. Deatli and Mr Nat. Jacks also spoke, each paying a tribute to the excellence of the guests. Mr S. R. Reid, of Te R-oti, returned thanks on behalf of Miss Smith.
