BOWLING.

KACBONjG-A JUST BEATS ELTHAM A MARGIN OP ONE. After a hard fought game a't Kaponga E Itham bowlers succumbed to the local men by the narrowest of margins, only a single point separating them on the total scores. A rink on each side claimed superiority over its opponents, but a balance of three gave Kaponga the victory, Eltham’s winning rink having an advantage of only two points. In the following details, Kaponga howlers are mentioned first: — T. Howard, A. J. Hawkins, W. G. Cran, R. J. Pajme 25 v. T. iStanners, McQueen, Rowe, Nairn 22. Nairn was ten down on 'the twelfth head, the scores being then 15—5, but effected a recovery by six successive ehalkings, making him 12—15 on the eighteenth. Good generalship and tenacity throughout the following eight heads gave him 2,3, 2/2, 1, and. three misses, in which Payne put on 5, 4 and 1. . A. J. Herbert, R. Law, G. W. Bell, R. E. Williams 24 v. Pranks, Flynn, Clemow, J. M. Stewart 26. The Eltham rink was eight down on th e twelfth head (16 —8), when a wellplayed effort gave them 4. A miss and two threes gave a lead of one at the sixteenth head. At the twenty-second the score was 21 all, but Eltham’s next essay yielded 4, and with only three more heads to play, in which Kaponga scored 1 and 2, against the visitors’ 1, the latter were comparatively at ease.
