VALUABLE JEWELS LOST.
SERIOUS ACCIDENT TO WOMAN MOTORIST.

With her best jewels, worth about £60,000, including a diamond tiara and three perfect strings of pearls, L'ady Glanely left Newmarket in a motor car to join her husband, a racehorse owner, at Bath. The car skidded at Royston, Hertfordshire, in an attempt to avoid a cyclist ’and overturned, catching fire. Lady Glanely, her chauffeur, and her maid, were rescued with difficulty, the jewels remaining in the car. The petrol exploded.! Some scattered jewels were recovered, hut otherwise they arc almost a total loss. The cyclist suffered a fractured skull and 'a broken leg. He is in a critical condition.
