SUBURBAN LINE DAMAGED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. Heavy southerly seas breaking on the railway" line to Petone have breached the wall and temporarily stopped the trains. • All traffic at present is being conducted by buses. It is a. double line and the outer one is hanging by the sleepers in several places. This lias always been a weak spot, and frequently suffers in heavy southerly weather, such as is being experienced this week.
ANOTHER, CANDIDATE ANNOUNCED 1 .
AUCKLAND, Aug. 16. Mr G. O. Muons, of Mt. Roskill. has been chosen as the United Political Party’s candidate for the Roskill seat. He was for seven years a member of tlie Gisborne Borough Council.
TROTTING MEETING POSTPONED

Owing to bad weather, to-morrow’s trotting meeting has been postponed to a date to bo fixed later.
