Messrs Cosgrove and De Valera have been invited to attend a conference at Cork on Friday, under the auspices of the Harbour Board, to consider the economic t>os>ition of the country and the question of conciliation and the unity of the Irish political parties.

Most of the newspapers express keen disappointment at the inconcluswe result of the election, but the Manehpster Guardian” says that despite a.ppearanees and the uncertainty oi th immediate future, the foundations oi the Free State are more- stable to-day than six months ago, when olio-third of the inhabitants still declined, to recognise the Free State constitution, or to admit the binding force of the AngloIrish agreement. The new Dail is the first that can claim to he a truly representative instrument of Government.
