MANAIA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The funeral of the late Mrs Johanna Casey, mother of Mrs J. J. Meldon, Maiiaia, whose death occurred at Spring Creek, Blenheim, last week at the age of 102 years, was very largely attended. The pall-bearers were Messrs J. Nolan, Jack Nolan, Frank Broughan, Fred Brougham J- O ’Dwyer and G. Dawes. The service- was conducted by the Rev. Dean Holley. 'On Saturday night Mr J. J. Meldon had a conversation With his wife over the ’phone, she speaking to him from Sodden, South Island. Mr. Meldon said the speech was very clear at so long a distance.
