(From Our Own Correspondent.)

CYCLISTS’ CARD TOURNAMENT. The Kaponga Cycle Club held a very sociable and successful- cribbage and ' , five hundred tournament in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Tuesday evening, which should materially advance the club’s financial position. Eight tables were occupied, and the honours fell to Miss Hazel Gadman and Mr. W. Pitcher, who each won eight games or a .possible ten. Both were five hundred j players, the devotees of cribbage hnv- ‘ ing rather a. bad run. An enjoyable series of dances followed, for which Miss M. Evans, at the piano, supplied the music. Supper, served by the club, terminated a very pleasant reunion

BRIGADE BALL TO-NIGHT. If the enthusiasm and diligence of the ladies’ committee and firemen is a criterion of success, the Fire Brigade ball this evening should easily excel any similar gathering previously held under its auspices. The Town Hall last ■night - -,was a hive of industry, and the combined efforts of the decorators, under the direction of Mr. S. C. Knight, have effected complete transformation of the Avails and stage. A dancers’ fl-oorj - an excellent -supper, and music that commands dancing are assured features of to-night’s programme.
