DAIRY SCIENCE.
HIGH SCHOOL TO FACTORY. .
APPRENTICING BOY STUDENTS.
, At an executive meeting of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers ’ Association, held at Hawera on Tuesday, the following resolution was passed:— '
That this branch of the. Now Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association gives its united support to the scheme set out by Mr Gray, principal of the Hawera High School, for the apprenticing of agricultural science students in dairy factories, and will assist in every way possible to further‘its adoption..
.In the course of his remarks to the executive, Mr Gray stressed the necessity of the students acquiring practical knowledge of the manufacture of dairy products, after receiving a .four years’ course in the technical part of the business. The fact of the student proving himself efficient to obtain a certificate before-leaving the school should prove beneficial to the dairy; company which employed him.
The managers’ executive fully agreed that the student, after receiving the hall mark of his studies, and wishing to reach the top of the tree in the manufacture of dairy products, could with advantage be given a position in a dairy factory, and would prove a valuable addition to the labour. employed by dairy companies.
