HIGH COMMISSIONERSHIP.
DUTIES AND PRIVILEGES
FINAL REPORT BY SIR. JAMES
ALLEN
(ey telegraph—press association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 15.
In hi.Si final report to the Government on relinguishing office, the late High Commissioner, Sir James Allen, says the six years have been, full of interest, not only from the growth of the work owing to increasing responsibilities, but also to the evolutionary development in status and privilege. The ex-High Commissioner recommends that the London staff should include a sufficient -number of officers who know New Zealand.
His responsibilities bring the Commissioner into touch with activities not confined to Great Britain, but extending to international affairs, including the League of Nations, Imperial defence, the- War Graves Commission, the Imperial Institute, Imperial shipping, wireless, the raising of loans, immigration and numerous other departments. The report concludes by saying that the increase in duties has been more than collateral with the growth of the Dominion and the- due share taken by the Dominion, since the war in Empire and international affairs.
