WAR CLAIMS.

UNITED STATES AND BRITAIN

CONVERSATIONS TO BE RESUMED

(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 5. Conversations in connection with commercial and other claims between the United States .aaid Britain are/ expected to be renewed in London in September. It is unlikely that an American mission will be sent for the purpose. While some of the claims have grown out of the Allies' blockade, of the Central Powers prior to the American entry into the war, many of them ate not connected with it.

Surprise i.s expressed at the State Department that the London view ol the discussion is to introduce the general question of British wartime blockade policy. It has indicated that the conversations have thus far been confined to the' examination of the various categories of the claims involved, among them being those of the British Admiralty against the American Navy in connection with the war operations. Similar American claims are made against Britain, and there are counter claims of the-two Governments of the ■same general character, and claims by individuals of both nations. Thus far nothing in the nature of negotiations for a /settlement agreement has been discussed.
