The proudest boy in England to-day is Cornelius King, a fifteen-year-old page boy at the Hotel Cecil, who has been given the bat with, which Bardsley compiled his first century on Saturday. King’s performance of small jobs so pleased Ra-rdsley that he took the bat back to the hotel on Saturday. Cornelius is an orphan, '-and lives with his sister in '■ Stepney. A queue numbering a- hundred was waiting at the gate at Lords ground at midnight, the two first men lying on. the ground attempting to sleep.
