CAR OVERTURNS.

OCCUPANTS’ FORTUNATE ESCAPE. Whilst travelling on the main, South Road, about, a mile north of Patea, shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday, a car containing two brothers, Messrs J. and H, Wild, of Wanganui, skidded on the wet surface and overturned on the soft portion to side of the tarred highway. Mr. H. Wild was thrown clear, but his brother was pinned beneath the car. The latter was taken to the Patea hospital, where he is remaining tor observation. He fortunately escaped fracture of limb, and it was reported this morning that his condition is not regarded as serious. It is understood that the sudden application of the brakes in an endeavour to avoid collision with some sheep caused the skid which resulted in the mishap.
