A London cablegram records the death of Lord Jellicoe’s stunt, Miss Catherine Jellicoe, aged 104 years. Father Christopher Sonias died at Hastings this morning, aged 80 years. He was bbrn at Nantes, France, and derved in the Fra neo-Prussian war. Ordained in 1878, he came the following year to New Zeahand, where he devoted his life to missionary work among the Maoris in Taranaki, on the Wanganui River and in Hawke’s Bay. He was also associated with thb foundation of the Order of Sisters of Compassion. Father Sonias had spent the last three years in Hastings in retirement. —Press Association.
