FARMERS’ COLOR. The Farmers’ 00-oip. Organisation Society reports liaviup; held a number of sales during the last iveek. .1 articulars are as follow : . Oto Monday we held a ©Lea ring sale on account of Mr. F. Muller, of Noi - mianjby Road, Manaia. The bulk ol the cows came forward in fair order, and a good sale resulted. Approximately 65 cows a.nd heifers were ottered and these sold at from £6 10s to ~ 1 < • pleineuts and sundries also sold l'\ell. £29 ; engine and machine, £62. , , , , On Wedrnesdlay we had a successful clearing sale on aiocount of All'. 1 . •Deane, of Inalia, The cows were a fairly good lot, being mostly Jersey cross, showing well in calf. Good cows sold at from £8 10a to £l2 10s. Implement® and .horses sold 1 as follow : Dray, £10; chain harrows, £3 12s; waggon gelding, £l9; waggon gelding, £34 ; small store pigs, 355. On Thursday at Opunake we held a very successful clearing sale on account of Airs. E. Watts. The cow s were in fair condition and mostly Jersey cross. Bidding throughout was brisk, everything selling at. top price. Good cows made £9 lOs to £l7 : others, £5 10s to £8 lOs; dray, £l3; mower, £ls 10s; hav rake, £l4; plough. £10; drill, £26 10s ; roller, £l6 I Os; bay gelding, £32; mare, £3l; hank, £B. At tli© Hawera sal© on Thursday w© hacl a full yarding of all classes of cattle, including dairy cows, and everything sold under the hammer at recent rates. Fat cows, £6 14s; forward cowls, £5 to £5 10s; boners. £3 to £ I 15s; canners, £1 10s to £2. W e offered in the dairy pens the following stock all of which sold very well, there being a good attendance of buyers. On account of Mr. Joyee, of Ketemarae Rd., a choice line of 31 good Jersey cows from' £8 to £2O. On account of Hr. J. Phillips, of Eiltham, 19 very choice Jersey cowls brought up to £24. On account of a client, 24 Jersey cross and Holstein cows were sold at an average price of £8 10s. Good Jersey heifers soLd up to £9 109. On Tuesday we held a clearing .sale at our Waver!ey vards on account of Mr M. Alurphy, of AVhenuakura. About 108 cows, mostly Holsteins, _were offered and these sohl at from £5 10s to £ll 10s. On Friday, at our AY averley salej we submitted a- good yarding of ah classes of cattle and 1 a good sale resulted. Light fat cows brought. £5, forward cows £4 15s, boners £3 to £4, wethers 30s to £2, bulls £4 6s to £6, weaner Jersey heifers 21s, forward ewes 21s, cull lambs 8s 3d. At the same -sale \v© off©red a number of implements, horses, etc., and two herds or Cows on account of Air H. Blue arid Air. George Grantham. Both herds were chiefly Jersey cross, with a fair sprinkling of Shorthorn and Holstein, mostly in fair condition. Good cows sold up to £lB, fair sorts £8 to £ll, backward sorts £3 to £5. On account of Air. Blue we _sold draught horses (all work) at £25 to £l6, cob £6, mower £l6 lO.s, .cultiOn Friday, at Normanby Road, Okaiawa, we sold Air. T. J. Allen’s herd of cows, also his implements and sundries. The cows were mostly Jersey cross and Shorthorn and a good sale resulted. Good cows from £9 10s to £6, backward sorts £5 to £B.
NEWTON KING. Newton King, Ltd., Hawera, report for last week that clearing safles have been conducted every day in various parts of the district, and a very keen demand for good dairy stock and pigs has been maintained. At Mr W. B. Brown’s sale on Alonday 101 cows were sold, and' realised the good average of £lO 15s per head. Mr D. Turner’s sale on Tuesday was also very well attended, and the herd of 60 cows averaged £lO 17s per head. Mr Cocker’s herd 1 at Ararata was sold ,on Wednesday, and averaged £9. A number of these cows were aged and late, and were passed out of the sale. On Thursday Air A. R. Mathew’s sale at Riveriea w)is held before a very large attendance of the public. Cows were eagerly sought after, and realised good : prices. At Mrs Nesbit’s sale on Friday there was again a large attendance, and a good sale resulted. Cows sold readily, and the pigs and sundries and implements realised very good prices, the waggon being sold for £65 10s. All through it has been noticeable that the demand for pigs far exceeds the supply, and some very good prices have been secured.
