The position that has arisen m regard to the flour-milling industry m Canterbury is undoubtedly a serious onie, and without precedent in : the history of the trade. Unless something unforeseen happens, it is probable that every mill in the province will be closed down -soon. Stocks of wheat are -getting down, and millers do not- know where to buy further supplies'—at least not at a pance that they are prepared- to pay.
