Influenza, is depleting attendances at tho schools, but so far the- authorities have not thouglvt it necessary to close the schools*. A rumour to this effect current on Saturday was promptly denied. It wa.s stated, that, though, many scholars are absent, the epidemic, is not serious enough to warrant closing down. In most eases pupils: were absent only a, day or two, and the trouble showed, sign® of lessening in severity.
