TARANAKI CENTRE. ANNUAL MEETING. 'there was a very good attendance of delegates at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Dowling Centre in Stratford on .Saturday, practically every club being represented. Air A. K. Smart was in the chair. The southern delegates were : Hawera, Messrs G. A. Burgess, H. E. Shaw and T. Corkiil; Park, F. A. Quin and A. Murdoch; Eltharn, J. Phillips and E. Bary; Avon, J. Masters and J. C. Robins; Opmnake, G. Feaver; Pikama, F. Julian; Stratford, E. Leech and A. H. R. A mess.
The chairman congratulated the Centre on its strong position, and said it was one of the foremost in the Dominion. After spending £7O on the British tour, there was a credit balance of £174, as against £l4O last year. He specially mentioned the success of the Auckland tour, on which the Taranaki competitors had been cordially entertained, and at which - there were a large number of new clubs competing. The Taranaki men had: done well, and in addition to .playing in Auckland had had a great time in Hamilton.
The following officers' were elected: President, Mr E. Dingle; vice-presi-dents, Messrs James Foy and E. Bary; executive, Messrs J. Abbott, A. K. Smart, A. T. Moore, T. Petty, F. Julain, and L. H. Sampson; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. J. Hill; auditor, Air 11. E. Fookes; delegate to Dominion Council, Air A. K. Smart. It was resolved to bold the New Tournament as usual and the open tourney in January. In regard to shield matches, it was agreed to play them on the same basis as last year. Suggestions regarding the inclusion of new players amdl home and home matches were brought up and shortly discussed, but not adopted. It was mentioned that there was no objection to clubs taking in young players for banner matches, this being a. matter for the clubs themselves'. A recommendation was made that the finals lip played' on a day other than Saturday, or that they should not be played on the 20th if it was a. Saturday.
Committee's to arrange fixtures in the various districts were .appointed las fol-lows':—-Central, Messrs Masters and Amess ; Western. Messrs Mason, Burton and Inder; Southern, Ale.ssrs Foy and Quin; Northern, Messrs Valentine, Petty, AToore, Abbott and Jackson. On the suggestion of the chairman it was decided to hold a. North v. South match at New Plymouth this year, 16 rinks to take part. Alessrs Amess and Adamson were appointed .selectors for the southern team, and Messrs A. K. Smart andl J. Lohb for the northern. Selectors for inter-centre matches were re-elected. They were: Messrs Smart, Adam.son. Amess and Mason. Tt was cle»eicl>ed ±o adhere -to the- oressent method of decision in the champion of chonipions contest, a motion that first the clubs and then each division find, its own l champion and then they meet to decide the final being put and defeatedIt was decided to .support the Daylight Saving Bill, to reprint the rules on Dominion Centre lines, and to- hold the next annual meeting at Stratford. Votes of thanks concluded the meeting.
