At the inquest concerning the circumstances surrounding the death of Alexander Strong, who was killed following a family quarrel, and in consequence of whose death his son, Bruce Strong, was arrested and charged with murder, evidence was given by iiis son Alexander, who said that deceased used to threaten to blow out the brains of members of the family. .He gav.e instances of acts of cruelty by his •father to members of the family. The coroner said that although the evidence showed that the deceased was a remarkably cruel man, and became practically a maniac under the influence of liquor, he could not define the accused’s action as anything other than murder, and committed him for trial.
