In the Sheffield Shield match, which was continued today between South Australia and Victoria, Victoria haci lost three wickets for 372 runs when stumps were drawn (AAoodfull not out 208, Hendry 59. and Ryder not out. 66 The weather was fine and cool and the wicket was good. Victoria fought desperately, but runs came slowly the batsmen taking no chances against the excellent bowling. AVoodtull fought a magnificent uphill battle, not takm„ a .single risk. BAIL WENT 83 YARDS. IS IT A RECOR D ? HOBART, Dec. 18. It was reported to the Tasmanian Cricket Association meeting this week that in the New Town v. North-west Hobart match on November 28, a New Town bowler. 0. A. Burrows, when he howled Filby, sent a bail a distance of 83 yards 1 foot 9 inches, which is claimed to he a world’s record. The spot where the hail lodged was pegged, and a chain measure immediately secured and the distance measured. The T.C.A. has decided to forward the information to AVisden’s that it might he included in the next issue.

AVisdens’ contains the records for First-class matches, and the longest distance of a bail being knocked is given at 67 yards 6 inches by Burrows for AVorcestersliire against Lancashire at Manchester in 1911.
