POLICE R AID IN PLAINING STREET (BY TEI.EGB.AVH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.) „ WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. A Chinese house in Hairing Street was raided last night by the police and eleven occupants were arrested on a charge of gambling. HOTEL PROPRIETOR'S DISCOVER, Y. WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. Yesterday the proprietor of a boarding house in Taranaki Street noticed a stream of blood issuing from under the door of a bedroom occupied by Alfred AVindberg. On entering the room AVindberg was found to be in al serious .condition from loss of blood, which was flowing freely from wounds in his neck. and thigh. AVindberg, who is 58 years of' age, was at once removed to hospital, where he lies in a critical condition. It is said that a razor and a pocket knife, both stained With blood, were found beside the wounded man, suggesting that his injuries were self-inniActed. ACCIDENT AT MOTOR CYCLE SPORTS. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23. During the motor cycle sports at Rangiora on Saturday, L. C. Monkman was severely injured on the head and leg through a collision between two machines at a fast speed. He is recovering. A STATEMENT CORRECTED. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23. It was incorrectly reported on Saturday that Mr Tuiti McDonald had lodgd a petition for a magisterial recount in the Southern Maori seat. His solicitors state that the matter is only being considered for the present.
