The vacancy in the Department of Agriculture for the position of director of live stock division, vacated some time ago by Colonel A. R. Young, has been filled by the appointment of Mr J. Lyons, who at present holds the position of district superintendent of agriculture at Auckland. Dr. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture, discussing the appointment, says that Mr Lyons had proved himself to be very sound, not only in diseases of, animals and stock, but also in regard to the management of stock.
