MATAPU.
HALL MEETING. The annual meeting in connection with the hall was held last evening, Mr. G. Wilson presiding over a good attendance of residents. A vote of sympathy in respect of the late Mr. Massey was passed in silence. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to be £lO6 7s 6d and expenditure £96 6s lid, leaving a credit of £lO Os 7d and the total debt on hall £34. The balance-sheet was passed without discussion.. Votes of thanks were accorded tjp Mr. H. Whitaker for his generosity in •providing the material for hall curtains,' to the ladies for thfeir- assistance i n the catering for ■ hall functions, to the auditor (Mr. Adams), and to Mr. A. Thomais for his services as caretaker. Fourteen nominations were received for election on the new committee, the ballot resulting in the following being elected: Messrs. G. Wilson, L. Preece, R. Guy, G. Harrison/, H. Sharp, A. .Thomas, O. Bootten, C. Hooker and R. Hooker. At a subsequent meeting of the new committee, Mr. G. Wilson was reelected chairman and Mr. R/. Guy secretary. Mr. A. Thomas was reappointed caretaker. The holding of the fortnightly euchres on the same lines as last year was discussed, and it was eventually decided, in view of the extra; work attache!.! for little profit, to hold them monthly, the date of the opening function to be arranged later. Arrangements were made for a plain and fancy dress ball, which is/ to be held on Friday, May 22. Sharp’s orchestra, will supply the music' and prizes for fancy dresses for adults and children .will be awarded.
