GIRL STEPS OFP EXPRESS

A strange affair is reported here. A settler at "Patera ngi found a small girl wandering along the road five miles from Te Awamutu soon after daylight. The girl gave the name Sybil Burke, aged ten. She says she was .travelling with lier mother from Wellington to Auckland by tlie Main Trunk express, which reached Te Awamutu at 3 o’clock tins morning.
Awaking to find the train stationary, and not finding her mother in the darkened carriage, th? girl stepped off the train, which immediately continued its journey. The girl was to shy or confused tot ask questions, and wandered along the road until Jound after daylight. The settler communicated with the police, who have advised tlie Auckland police that tlie girl is leaving for Auckland by to-diiv’s train!
